Realising that the landscape was an integral part of how the sculptures are viewed, the surrounding property was bought up to maintain the natural backdrop of the park. The result is spectacular, with each piece placed carefully and with much consideration.
It would be impossible to see the whole park in one day and the changing seasons are a good reason to return to experience it in different colours. There are bicycles available to rent and a tram service for those less keen on peddling around the grounds.
The large grounds are littered with monumental modern sculptures by modern and contemporary masters, including Henry Moore, Richard Serra, Isamu Noguchi, and Andy Goldsworthy. There are many works on loan keeping the landscape in flux, as well as a temporary exhibition programme exploring the works on a solo artist. It is a perfect way to explore the Hudson Valley.
